I grew up in Denmark and as a teenager had various species of finches, budgies, cockatiel, doves and quail. The exotic bird hobby was quite popular there in the 1970s. Then for many years was unable to have any birds. Only since 2002 have I been able to have finches and canaries again, while living in NJ. Over the years there I participated in many bird shows in NYC, NJ and PA. About 5 years ago I moved to south Florida and have now retired, so I have better time to enjoy them all. I currently breed zebra finches, star finches, owl finches, society finches, redwing pytilia and canaries. I have 2 outdoor aviaries and the rest are in breeding cages and flights in screened in porch. I have participated in several shows in FL and been a NFSS member for many years.
